CONSTRUCTION ALERT: Fiber expands to Elmore, Hyde Park, Morristown and a portion of Wolcott
Fidium Fiber to expand to more than 3,400 homes and businesses in Elmore, Hyde Park, Morristown and a portion of Wolcott, bringing multi-gig fiber service to Lamoille FiberNet CUD communities
What: Fidium Fiber is expanding service of its all-fiber internet network to more than 3,400 homes and businesses in Elmore, Hyde Park, Morristown and part of Wolcott, Vermont. Construction is scheduled to begin as soon as July 1. Through fiber expansion in these and other local communities, thousands of residents and business owners will have access to Fidium’s multi-gig speed fiber internet service.
Fidium expansion in these communities comes through its partnership with Lamoille FiberNet Communications Union District and is now underway for communities across the CUD area. This includes Belvidere, Cambridge, Eden, Elmore, Hyde Park, Johnson, Morristown, Stowe, Waterville and the Lamoille FiberNet portion of Wolcott.
“We are thrilled that Fidium’s construction is underway in these towns and we’re even more excited that Fidium is expanding its investment beyond our grant-funded build to other areas,’ said Jeff Tilton, Waterville Delegate and Lamoille FiberNet CUD Board Chair. “When the project’s Phase I is completed this fall, universal fiber broadband service will be available in almost all of Lamoille County, and with Fidium’s Phase II construction in 2025, the remaining portions of Elmore, Hyde Park, and Stowe, and Lamoille FiberNet’s portion of Wolcott will also be completed.” NEK Broadband, another CUD, is responsible for the remainder of Wolcott.”
Note: Internet services will be provided by and through Fidium; Lamoille FiberNet is helping to fund the construction and is not a service provider.
What to expect with network construction?
The work of installing new fiber optic lines along roads and in public utility areas requires some digging and climbing of utility poles. Crews will be working along the edge of private property within the public right-of-way and/or public utility easements. This work may require some temporary traffic detours, noise and dust. Paint markings and/or flags may be placed in areas where construction is active. Flags will be removed once work is complete in the area. Crews will work quickly, clean up after themselves and will aim to minimize any disruption.
We know this work could be inconvenient for our community and appreciate your patience while we upgrade neighborhoods to 100% fiber internet. More information on the fiber build progress will be shared with town and city officials, as well as residents. Mailers, door hangers and construction alerts will be distributed to keep the public informed, and Fidium representatives will be visiting neighborhoods to share more about what to expect during construction and how to sign up to be the first notified as soon as service is ready to install.
