Fidium and Towns Collaborating on Public WiFi Hotspots
Fidium Fiber is currently working with town officials across each Lamoille FiberNet community to identify the best locations for a free public WiFi hotspot within each town. These hotspots will provide free, high-speed internet access in central areas — like town greens, libraries, or community centers — making it easier for residents and visitors to get online when they need it most. Whether checking emails, accessing online services, or staying connected in an emergency, these public WiFi spots will offer reliable access in convenient and central locations.
Lamoille FiberNet is the grant-funded partner that has worked with Fidium to bring high-speed internet to Belvidere, Cambridge, Eden, Elmore, Hyde Park, Johnson, Morristown, Stowe, Waterville, and parts of Wolcott. We look forward to seeing this generous initiative by Fidium help close the connectivity gap throughout Lamoille County.
Having a local public WiFi hotspot brings real benefits to our towns. It supports students, job seekers, and small businesses by expanding internet access to those who may not have it at home. It also encourages economic activity and improves digital equity in our rural communities.
For updates and to find out where your town’s WiFi hotspot will be located, visit lamoillefiber.net — we will post the locations on our website once they are established.
