If the fiber network is built, when can I get online?
Lamoille FiberNet’s final phase of network construction — covering East Elmore, the Garfield area of Hyde Park, some of North Wolcott and a few spurs in Stowe — is expected to be complete by early August. Once construction of the fiber lines along roads is completed, then engineering tests must be performed before any addresses can be installed or “hooked up.” This means that the small number of final addresses in Lamoille FiberNet’s Universal Service Plan (i.e., unserved and underserved on-grid addresses in our district) will be able to order service by late summer or fall.
Fidium is offering free installations if your drop — the connection from the network to the house — is less than 2000 feet!
If your address has a drop that is longer than 2000’, and if you want to take advantage of our long drop financing to cover the drop cost, you need to connect to the network by December 2025, due to our grant deadline. This means you’ll want to sign up online now to allow time for Fidium to determine what your specific situation requires, line up DigSafe, if needed, and install the long drop before the deadline.
Most Lamoille FiberNet’s addresses were included in the network buildout that was completed in 2024, and those addresses can order service now.
To order your service, go https://www.fidiumfiber.com/ and click the availability button at the top of the page. This begins your “hook up” process. The pre-order or order online form guides you through signing up for Fidium Fiber Service. The waiting time between when construction is complete and when you are online is determined by the location of your home or business, the type of connection required (aerial or underground, short or long distance to a pole/pedestal), and Fidium Fiber’s construction schedule.
